We’ve held an Arizona Science Center membership for almost 10 years now, and even though we live in North Phoenix, and have to travel 30 minutes each way to get to the Science Center we have no problem getting the full value out of our membership.

Locally we are able to take advantage of the discounts the Science Center offers to members including:

  • Free general admission year-round
  • Free admission to 350+ science and technology museums worldwide (ASTC Passport Program — this is the one you love!)
  • 50% off the Dorrance DOME
  • Films in the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater, Evans Family SkyCycle, and Mini Shop included at no extra cost per visit
  • 10% discount at ScienceShop and MarketCafe
  • Discounted guest admission at $19.95
  • Discounted and early registration for Camp Innovation
  • Discount on birthday parties and private event rentals
  • Exclusive check-in at the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation Membership Zone
  • 9:30am early admission on Saturdays and Sundays

Where we find we get the biggest bang for our buck is when we visit the Special Exhibits with family and friends, or when we travel out of town and want to visit other science centers.

With the Arizona Science Center Membership as long as you have one of the “named” members on your card, you can bring in anyone else up to the size of your membership. I love doing this with the special exhibits because it helps save the $22.95 per adult a friend or family member would pay for general admission, even if they’re just looking to go to the special exhibit.

When traveling one of the first things we do is look up if there are places local to where we’re travelling that participate in the ASTC Travel Passport program.  The ASTC Program provides benefits such as free general admission to other science centers and museums when you travel outside of your local area. There are science centers and museums in almost every state and even some foreign countries that participate in this program – click here to see the link of all participating organizations and the discount they provide.

Here are just some of the places our family has had the opportunity to use the ASTC Travel Passport:

  • The Science and Industry Museum ($18 per adult) – Chicago
  • Adler Planetarium ($12 per adult) – Chicago
  • The Museum of Flight ($21 per adult) – Seattle
  • The Imagination Children’s Museum ($10.20 per person) – Everett, WA
  • The International Wildlife Museum ($9 per adult) – Tucson
  • New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science ($8/Adult, $5/Child) – Albuquerque
  • Kentucky Science Center ($13/Adult, $11/Child) – Louisville
  • The Pacific Science Center ($25.95/Adult, $13.95/Child) – Seattle

It’s incredibly nice to know that when we go to a new place there is a fun local attraction we can visit and it won’t cost us an extra $100 dollars to take advantage of the opportunity!

Do you have a local membership you love? Have you had a chance to use your membership for a Phoenix-area attraction in another city or state? Let me know below in the comments!
